From the oldest Chardonnay vines on the estate, Block 2 was planted in 1992 on a gently sloping, east facing site of deep schist soils at the northern edge of The Elms Vineyard. Sheltered and lower lying, it consistently produces fruit of exceptional purity and finesse.

Block 2 shows noticeably fresher, more steely acidity than the Bannockburn Chardonnay. It’s fine and elegant, with concentrated stony, earthy minerality shining through, making for a precise, elegant Chardonnay with clear site definition.
The wine is fermented and aged in French oak, with just 4% new barrels, and spends 17 months maturing, including 11 months on full lees.
